Private Track Preview Links let you share any track, even one that is not publicly accessible, with specific people. The recipient can listen in their browser without needing a DropTrack account.
When to Use a Preview Link
Use a private preview link for:
- Sharing unreleased or unfinished music with collaborators, producers, or managers.
- Sending a quick listen link without building a full email campaign.
- Getting feedback on a private track from a select group of trusted listeners.
Create a Private Preview Link
- Open the track in your dashboard.
- Open the Preview tab.
- Click Copy Preview Link.
- Send the link manually to the person you want to hear the track.
Preview links are available for all track types: hosted MP3/WAV/AIFF uploads, SoundCloud tracks, and Spotify-linked tracks.
What Recipients See
Recipients open a clean DropTrack player page where they can listen to the track. If comments are enabled, they can leave timestamped feedback on the waveform.
The track does not appear in your public profile or in search results. It is only accessible through the exact link you share.
Public Link vs. Private Preview Link
| Feature | Standard public link | Private preview link |
|---|---|---|
| Requires the track to be public | Yes | No |
| Accessible without a DropTrack account | Yes | Yes |
| Appears in search or public profile | Yes | No |
| Works for private or draft tracks | No | Yes |
| Shareable through a campaign | Yes | Not directly; send the URL manually |
Security Notes
A private preview link is not the same as a password-protected campaign. Anyone with the exact URL can listen, so only send it to people you trust.
For more control, you can:
- Use a campaign with password protection.
- Disable the preview link by changing track visibility or removing the share path if needed.
- Use watermarking on eligible plans for sensitive prerelease material.
For professional submissions to labels or industry contacts, use a campaign. It gives you full analytics, delivery tracking, and the ability to require feedback.
