Uploading your music to DropTrack is the first step to promoting it. Here's everything you need to know.
How to Upload a Track
- Click Tracks in the sidebar.
- Click Upload Track.
- Choose a file from your computer (MP3, WAV, or AIFF).
- Fill in the track details — title, artist, genre, BPM, key.
- Add artwork by uploading an image, choosing one from your library, or generating one with AI Album Art.
Supported Audio Formats
- MP3 — The most common format. Recommended for most use cases.
- WAV — Uncompressed, higher quality. Larger file sizes.
- AIFF — Similar to WAV. Common on Mac.
When you upload a WAV or AIFF, DropTrack automatically converts it to a high-quality MP3 for streaming while preserving the original lossless file for download. Each track version can have its own WAV/AIFF file attached independently.
Other Ways to Add Tracks
- Import from SoundCloud — Paste a SoundCloud track URL to import it.
- Add a Spotify link — Paste a Spotify track URL. The track will be added to your library and can be shared via playlists and campaigns.
Editing Track Details
After uploading, you can edit metadata at any time from the track detail page:
- Title and Artist
- Genre
- BPM (beats per minute)
- Key
- ISRC Code — The International Standard Recording Code for uniquely identifying your recording. (Optional)
- Artwork — Upload an image, choose from your library, or use the AI Album Art Generator to create artwork.
Accurate metadata helps you stay organized and helps contacts find and filter your music.
Track Versions
Once a track is uploaded, you can upload additional versions (radio edits, instrumentals, remixes) from the Versions tab on the track detail page. All versions share the same URL and track entry — contacts always hear whichever version you set as active. See Track Versions for full details.
Private Tracks & Preview Links
Tracks don't have to be public to share them. Every track — including private ones — has a Preview Link you can share directly from the track detail page. The recipient can listen in their browser without needing a DropTrack account, and the track remains private (not accessible via search or your public profile). This is ideal for sharing unfinished work, unreleased music, or material with specific collaborators.
Upload Limits
Upload limits vary by plan. Free accounts have a limited number of tracks, while Pro and Pro Label plans offer significantly more. See Understanding Plans & Pricing for details.
Note: Track versions do not count toward your plan's track limit — only the parent track counts.
